Precision Learning Systems is an innovative educational company that specializes in offering high quality automotive training, consulting, and curriculum development. Our current and future course offerings will include Pennsylvania State Inspection, Pennsylvania Enhanced Emissions, enthusiast topics and one day seminars. Additionally, we offer support to organizations within the automotive industry. Precision Learning Systems has been designed so that many of these classes and support can be completed at remote facilities.

PennDOT - Safety Inspection Mechanic Training

Safety Inspection Mechanic training course instructs participants to inspect motor vehicles under Publication 45: Vehicle Equipment and Inspection Regulations. Both written and hands-on tactile examinations must be passed for certification. Note: While every effort will be made to assist in learning the skills needed to be a proficient inspector, a basic understanding of mechanics and vehicle repair is assumed upon registration. Novice students may struggle and may not be successful during their first attempt without automotive service and repair background. The cost of the course is $225 (payable to host school).

Precision Learning Systems will be teaching a PA Safety Inspector Certification Course for Western Montgomery Career and Technical Center on October 14, 16, 17 (6-10pm), and 1 hour Tactile exam (scheduled Saturday, October 19 between 8am - 4pm). PennDOT - Emissions Inspector Certification Course

PA Emissions Inspector

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Enhanced Emissions Inspector Certification class is open to individuals without prior emission certification or technical training. Successful completion of the program and tests qualifies the individual to inspect and pass/fail a vehicle for emissions c​​certification. Participants must bring their photo identification/driver's license to class. Students do not have to be 18 to enroll in the course; however, they must be at least 18 and have a valid driver's license to become a PA certified enhanced emissions inspector. Plan to arrive at the first class 15 minutes early. The cost of the course is $200 (payable to host school) plus students must register and pay $39.99 for training package with Penn Dot on https://www.patrainingportal.com/. Penn Dot's Training Package includes a printable, pdf manual, and one retest offered at no charge. Classroom attendance is required and the exam will take place in a proctored setting.

Course Description

The Emissions Inspector Certification course focuses on the proper techniques to perform the various Pennsylvania emissions inspections, including the following:

  •  Visual antitampering check

  • Two-speed idle (TSI) test

  • Gas-Cap test

  • On-board diagnostics (OBD) I/M checks

  • 2 computer based tests

  • Course length will be 3 nights. Nights 1 and 2 will be from 6-10pm and night 3 will be for testing from  6-8pm (total of 10 hours).
